There are
around 700 students growing
up at Cora L. Rice Elementary School in Landover, Maryland. Every day they go to school, a couple of
blocks down from FedEx field, and navigate their way through an educational and
social system of rules and regulations, learning more at the end of the day than they
think they have--and always in uniform.
Some days
are tougher than others. Some days are
wonderful. And some days the cafeteria serves pizza.
These
paintings are of Cora Rice’s students being just who they are. It’s as if they are completely at home.
